What Is Tree Pruning and Why Is it Important?

Back in our childhood, we all might have learned that trees need soil, water, and sunlight to survive. And that remains true, up to now.

However, aside from these basic needs of trees and plants alike, there are some other things trees need to grow healthier and have a longer life.

Tree pruning is one of the most common maintenance procedure done by expert arborists or tree surgeons to take care of trees and ensure that a tree is in a good condition.

Aside from being an effective means of preserving trees, tree pruning is also originally being practiced to make sure that a tree would not be a hazard to anyone during a storm.

In tree pruning, branches and other parts of the tree are trimmed or cut down strategically to prevent any loose or dead branches from suddenly falling off and damaging properties or hurting people because of strong winds.

Tree pruning is also done to facilitate the flow of air and sunlight through the tree itself, preventing the possibility of the tree suffering from diseases.

The process of pruning a tree may sound simple enough, but in reality, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Proper pruning requires the skill and expertise of experienced tree arborists because you can’t just go on a branch-trimming spree while pruning.

When you prune a tree, not all branches need to be cut off, the branches that would be trimmed are carefully selected. If not, the tree could have stunted growth or could even die prematurely. Also, if the trees are not treated well after the actual cutting off its branches, the tree could catch damaging tree diseases.

So, instead of guessing which branches to cut off, it would be a lot safer if you just hire professionals to do the job. This way, you can have full confidence that your tree will be saved and will live for longer.
